Preserving Affordable Rental Housing in Chicago's west West Town, Humboldt Park and Logan Square Communities
West Town Housing Preservation artners Phase I was developed in 1983 on vacant land. The project consist of 140 newly-constructed townhouse units in 30 buildings. West Town Housing Partner Phase II was developed in 1988. The developments consist of 113 newly-constructed townhouse in 30 buildings, and 65 units in eight rehabbed multi-family buildings. Within these developments there is a mix of two. three, and four bedrooms units to accomodate families. Both developments are 100% Project-Based Section 8.
In 2016, Bickerdike signed purchase agreements to exit our partners from West Town Housing Partners Phases I and II, paving the way for a recapitalization and rehab of these award-winning housing developments to begin in mid-2017.
The rehabilitation will be phased over a 24-month period and will include:
- Energy efficient designs and systems such as high efficiency furnaces and central air conditioning
- New flooring
- Roofing
- Doors
- New plumbing
- New lighting fixtures and more.
The combined developments will be renamed West Town Housing Preservation.
